Street Meal Ministries
Be a part of God's work in the world! Twice a month, we serve nutritious meals to people in need in the Berkeley community. Volunteers are needed to help in the kitchen, greet guests, host tables, and participate in the Bible study following the meal. You can serve for a few hours or for the entire afternoon; regular and periodic commitments are welcome.
Under the direction of lead cooks, kitchen and serving crews experience the double grace of being a part of a team and serving the Lord. We serve about 150 guests at each Street Meal, receiving the blessings of giving and serving together. We are especially looking for people who can serve on a regular basis as assistant and lead cooks.
Dates: 2nd & last Saturday of each month
Greeting, welcoming, and getting to know guests by name has become an essential part of our ministry. More than just a free meal, Street Meal offers guests a safe space in which respect, grace, and caring are nourishing complements of fellowship to the sustenance of the food we share. For more information, please contact Lanny Vincent at (415) 302-9663 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
After the meal (5:45–7 pm), we provide a safe and inviting place for guests to share their faith journeys and ask honest questions about God and Christianity. We seek volunteers with a heart to help others explore God's word and so discover his love. For more information, please contact Marie Corwin at (510) 843-9778 or email@example.com.
Help us meet the material needs of those living close to the edge by donating new or gently used bedding, toiletries, and men's clothing items (click here for a specific list). For more information, visit our Pathway table after worship services on the second Sunday of each month or contact Nancy Koerner at (510) 725-2895 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
